This generation of castable have low water requirements (below 6% in many cases), needs no vibration and results in a superior cast finish. The added ease of installation includes not only pouring but also the ability to pump the products into the application. Recently injection method is used to reduce cost in castable installation.
Typical injection method uses a rod vibrator to increase the fluidity and filling, but suffers from uneven filling in case the filling space is narrow. Self flowing castables have excellent fluidity with small amount of water because they are made of extremely fine powders and additives. It is also possible to reduce cost and improve working conditions because they have self filling characteristics.
They have excellent thermal characteristics because of extremely low content of Al2O3 cement, and they can be used under severe operating conditions and for the part that the molten solution makes contact.
